Committees

Introduction

The Council, meeting together, is the final decision making body. However certain functions are delegated to four Committees who may set up sub-committees and working groups.

Tylers GreenMeetings of the council and sub-committees are open to members of the public and the press. The council welcomes the attendance of residents at meetings and there are opportunities for residents to address the council or ask questions. Please read the council’s Standing Orders (Useful Info tab, Links) for how meetings are managed and the rules that both members of the council and the public need to adhere to.

2018 – 2019 Committees

Three representatives from each ward are elected every May to serve on the council’s four standing committees. If not elected to a committee the chairman and vice-chairman of the council are in accordance with Standing Orders ex-officio members of all committees, sub-committees and working groups.


Finance & General Purposes (F&GP)

Overall responsibility for the management of the Council’s financial affairs in accordance with legislative requirements, regulations and guidelines, recommending the precept (the amount of money demanded from the District Council, who collects it on behalf of the Parish Council as part of the Council Tax). Open Spaces (OS)

This committee is responsible for the amenity areas, commons, village greens, open spaces, ponds, rivers and woodlands, including those rented and leased by the Council, including their maintenance which includes grass cutting, fencing, boundary walls, gates and buildings. Works and Services (W&S)

Responsibility for the maintenance of the Council’s offices and depot, Warden’s House, cemeteries and closed churchyards, war memorials and other heritage markers, bus shelters, highway litter bins, seats and trees not the responsibility of other authorities.The committee is also responsible for the Council’s vehicles, plant, equipment and tool. Planning (P)

This is now a formal meeting held prior to a standing committee or council meeting.  It considers planning applications and is currently lead by the Ward Planning Representatives.  Cllr Carolyn Leonard (FH) Rep, Cllr Chris Dodds (L) Rep and Cllr H Darch (TG) Rep.


Publicity Group

This working group reports to the F&GP committee and is responsible for producing the twice-yearly newsletter sent out to all residents within the parish, Council exhibition stands at local community events and for maintaining the Council website.
